Associate Pastor Reflections
ADVENT: A Season of Hope and Preparation
Dear St. Bede & St. Denis Parish Family,
This Sunday, we joyfully enter the sacred season of Advent, a time of hopeful waiting and spiritual preparation to celebrate Christ’s birth at Christmas.
Advent calls us to reflect on the promise of Emmanuel, “God with us,” and to ready our hearts to receive the light of Christ anew. Through prayer, repentance, and acts of charity, we embrace the opportunity to deepen our relationship with the Lord and to prepare a fitting dwelling place for Him in our lives.
This year, our Advent journey is blessed with an extraordinary grace: the visit of Fr. Roberto Alvarado, a member of the Congregation of Theatines’ Brothers from Mexico: Fr. Roberto will lead us in a Nine-Day Retreat in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe, from December 3rd to December 12th, culminating in the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. This retreat will be a powerful time of prayer, reflection, and devotion to our Blessed Mother, who always leads us closer to her Son, Jesus Christ.
Each day of the retreat will offer unique opportunities for spiritual growth, including inspiring reflections by Fr. Roberto, opportunities for Confession, Holy Mass, and devotional practices centered on Our Lady. We encourage all parishioners to participate in this beautiful preparation, which deepens our Advent journey and honors the Patroness of the Americas and our loving Mother.
Let us open our hearts and make time for these sacred moments as a community of love and faith. May our participation in this retreat and in all the Advent devotions bring us closer to the joy of Christmas and the love of God made manifest in Christ, Jesus: our lord, savior, and king. With prayers for a blessed Advent!
